Hiring Trend: Employers Want These Soft Skills From Job Seekers, Not Just Tech Expertise


<p>According to a recent poll, a sizable 61% of Indian companies hired during the months of April and June. Insights on recruiting activities for white collar jobs in India for Q2, 2023, were published by the quarterly hiring tracker of Indeed, a worldwide matching and hiring platform.</p>

<p>Important Findings from the Indeed Hiring Tracker</p>
<p>The industry with the highest demand is IT.</p>
<p>Because of its robustness, the IT industry has remained the top functional field of employment for workers this quarter (18%). Since this industry is continually changing, there are always fresh job possibilities for competent people, which contributes to the strong demand. Sales (15%), manufacturing (17%), and marketing (13%), in that order, are the next three industries.</p>
<p>Employers and workers both need certain skill sets.</p>
<p>Both companies and workers saw a rise in the demand for certain skill sets. Employers need candidates with both technical and soft skills, including communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Employees who want to operate successfully in the dynamic and quickly changing workplace of today need these talents.</p>
<p>The employment market has been significantly impacted by layoffs.</p>
<p>62% of the workers questioned said they had lost their own jobs or had seen colleagues do so. For many job searchers, this has resulted in greater competition for employment and financial uncertainty.</p>
<p>“The results from our Q2 2023 Hiring Tracker provide useful insights into the current state of the job market,” stated Sashi Kumar, head of sales at Indeed India. The need for certain skill sets is evident, and the IT industry is still robust. To handle the digital boom, tech and soft skills will continue to be crucial.</p>
<p>India has a difficult employment market, particularly for recent grads.</p>
<p>The majority of companies (71%) believe there are few chances and difficult circumstances in the present white collar employment market for recent graduates. The largest problems facing recent graduates are the insufficient number of job opportunities (41%) and the continuously shifting skill requirements of businesses (11%).</p>
<p>Nevertheless, in spite of these difficulties, 28% of firms employed new employees, a 5% rise from the previous quarter, suggesting a probable upward trend in the following quarters.</p>
<p>In India, not all regions have the same employment market. possibilities vary by location, as do the individual talents that are in demand. Some areas have more possibilities than others.</p>
<p>For new graduates, there are fewer employment vacancies in metro areas like Kolkata (50%), Chennai (46%) and Delhi/NCR (45%).</p>
<p>Freshers are in high demand in non-metropolitan areas and emerging IT centres like Hyderabad (37%) and Pune (39%).</p>
<p>Outlook:</p>
<p>In the next months, the Indian white-collar employment market seems to be in a state of flux. Tech skills will be in demand, discussions about the future of work, such as hybrid, remote vs. in-office employment, and continuous learning, will become more prevalent. Job seekers should concentrate on improving their computer abilities, be willing to work remotely, and never stop learning.</p>

<p>On behalf of Indeed, Valuvox performed this poll with 1,109 employers, 2517 candidates, and employees. The survey participants were divided into cities, then into big, medium, and small businesses, and finally into industries.</p>
