ICC: Whose Money Is It Anyhow? From Ignoring Phishing Scams to Commissioning “Secret” Reviews?

<p>However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) could disagree. It was originally revealed in January of this year how the ICC ended up a “victim” of phishing in the US.</p>
<p>Not once, not twice, but four times the cricket organization was the victim of a fraud, and shockingly, the ICC was completely unaware of it all.</p>
<p>In a nutshell, some scammers in the US pretended to be an ICC vendor and sent their CFO emails requesting money using an email ID that looked similar to the ICC’s. And the payments were indeed successful.</p>
<p>$2.5 million in losses is not a little sum. That amount of money is comparable to the yearly revenue received by the ICC by four to five associate member nations.</p>
<p>What is unclear is if the ICC has hired or contacted anybody to check into the situation. CricketNext contacted the ICC to inquire about the appointment of an internal or external body to investigate the phishing instances, but hasn’t heard back yet. As soon as they answer, the article will be updated.</p>
<p>The head of the HR and Anti-Corruption Unit has been accused of harassment by a female employee, and questions have been raised about the ICC’s shoddy plans to hold the World Cup in America. Other investigations commissioned by a former CEO have also come to light.</p>
<p>The ‘culture evaluation’ costing a million dollars</p>
<p>The ICC hired UK-based PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) in 2021 to conduct an organization-wide culture assessment. One of the most expensive terminations in the history of the sports business occurred as a consequence of a review that PWC allegedly spent a staggering US$ one million to perform.</p>
<p>The CEO of ICC, Manu Sawhney, was fired as a consequence of the “findings of the PWC report” at that point, and he was the sole employee to lose his job as a result of the report’s findings. The PWC-UK research, which it is believed was commissioned as part of a scheme between a senior ICC official and a well-known cricket administrator from the United Kingdom, has not resulted in any additional developments in the ICC as of yet.</p>
<p>“No one is aware of what transpired with the cultural evaluation since the report was never brought up for debate. What’s particularly astonishing is that no one even wants to inquire as to what happened to it, according to those keeping tabs on events.</p>
<p>Untimely promotions</p>
<p>The ICC has given one employee who is known to be connected to the “higher-ups” many inappropriate promotions at the expense of disregarding another person who is a senior and far more productive.</p>
<p>While one Asian employee hasn’t received a promotion in more over five years, many people have taken offense at another employee’s “out of turn” advancement who is believed to be connected to high ICC officials. Surprisingly, none of the board members from Asia have brought up the issue with ICC’s HR division.</p>
<p>“The ICC loves to preach about equality, etc., but in reality, its internal behavior is so repugnant. Everyone at the ICC speaks about it, but there has been total quiet, according to a source familiar with the situation.</p>
