According to filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, a book adaptation is all about the emotional resonance a reader has while reading it.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-225359″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-adapting-a-book-is-about-the-deep-relationship-you-have-to-it-according-to-vishal-.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com adapting a book is about the deep relationship you have to it according to vishal” width=”1163″ height=”774″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-adapting-a-book-is-about-the-deep-relationship-you-have-to-it-according-to-vishal-.jpg 275w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/theindiaprint.com-adapting-a-book-is-about-the-deep-relationship-you-have-to-it-according-to-vishal–150×100.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1163px) 100vw, 1163px” title=”Adapting a book is about the deep relationship you have to it, according to Vishal Bhardwaj 6″>

The riveting nonfiction story “Escape to Nowhere,” which served as the basis for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Netflix film “Khufiya,” demanded a steadfast dedication to detail and a deep reverence for its original material.

“Adapting a book to the screen isn’t about what you initially think; it’s about the profound connection you feel when you read it,” Bhardwaj said while discussing the creative process of turning the book into a movie. More difficult even than marriage, committing to this process is physically and emotionally taxing.

“Khufiya” leads me into unknown terrain since it explores espionage, a novel genre for me, he said. It’s an exciting voyage of creative discovery that has given me a new perspective on my career as a filmmaker, broadened my horizons as a creator, and challenged me in ways I hadn’t expected.

Khufiya, a Netflix original film directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and starring Tabu, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi, debuted on October 5.
